Finding Balance

There's one little problem with absolutely loving what you do for work: It's easy to overwork! Last year I was on so engrossed in projects for French Kiss that the rest of my life got a bit out of balance. I got sick the end of December and it lingered into January. I started feeling better in January, but I had no energy or inspiration to return to my studio.

I realized I needed the grounding energy of what the "Flylady" (Queen of home cleaning) calls "Blessing The Home". I've been cleaning, re-organizing, cooking, juicing, and baking bread. I've slowly spread from the kitchen to blessing the other rooms and I now find myself back in my studio feeling energized and excited again.

I'm going to spend the rest of this week re-energizing and I'll be back in the studio next week with new tutorials, and additions to the store. I've been working on some Valentine goodies.

How about you? Are you finding balance in this new year? What do you find nourishing to your creative soul?

Texture on the floral image is Gateaux from the Artiste Collection. Texture for the background is Labyrinth (with an overlay) from Les Textures III. Frame is from Vintage Frames No. 2.

Thank you all for your comments. It’s also nice to hear about your own thoughts of finding balance and inspiration in your work / life. It’s good to realize when we need to nurture ourselves. xx

Thank you for sharing your experience. I too have lacked motivation recently to create and now it is clear that I need to bless my house too. I can hardly function in clutter so now it is time to get to work on that.

Leslie,
I thought you were being pretty quiet -

I also had a similar experience over the last 2 months.

Looking forward to seeing your work again – and your inspiration to all that follow you to go out and try new projects.

Pretty image…so glad you’re on your way back to better health and balance. Love the Flylady…she’s about an hour from where I live.

I’ve been trying for weeks to figure out what’s up with the universe (mainly mine) and trying to find the word(s) … Balance! Like you, I need it in order for the creative process to freely reveal itself. Thank you so much for sharing and giving, at least me, that little piece of perspective I’ve been missing.

Hello Leslie,

So glad you took some time for yourself and found your balance. I understand completely and as an artist myself get so in grossed with my work that I lose track of time and all that is going on around me. I am looking forward to seeing your creative juices back at work, you do amazing creations!

Blessings,
Kimberly
