New tutorial on the blog on understanding how backgrounds, textures, and depth of field work together. Good tips for beginning texture users.
I've often had beginning texture users ask me how I cut out my flowers. I finally realized that they were seeing images like the one above and imagining that I cut out the flower and placed it on a background. Actually, the beauty of textures is that when used with an image with a simple background, all that is required is changing the blend mode and slight masking.
This peony bud image uses the texture, Awakening from the Spring Impasto Collection.
